Who is watching you?
One of the great things about the christmas period for me is that whilst the Bundesliga take their winter break, the premiership on the other hand actually play more games than ever and almost all of them are televised!
The two Manchester teams, City and United are leading the division by quite a way and over the last couple of days I watched both United and City play a couple of games. The thing you always notice about the team managers in football is that they actually attend the games and sit in the dug-out watching the entire game. Amazing isn’t it? Not really I am sure you are saying! What else would they do? How would they coach the team otherwise?
As obvious as this may be for football times, what about your golf coach? Does he ever watch you play a competitive round? The majority don’t. So how does he know what to work on with you?
That’s right he doesn’t, that is why you are working on swing technique all the time, you can’t see anything else on the range!
Imagine Alex Ferguson not attending the United games and just hanging around the training ground instead, crazy? Think about golf for a moment again.
Imagine Ferguson working only on set pieces (free-kicks and corners) instead of open play. Now think about your golf instruction again, ever got past hitting a 7 iron and looking at it on video?
Imagine Ferguson working with Wayne Rooney inside a building, kicking out onto a field with no goals, working on his kicking technique and them disecting the movement on video, sound like your golf instruction?
Now I am sure that a huge football club like Manchester United have access to all kinds of high-tech equipment to develop their players and I am sure they use it constantly but that’s not the point here.
I am just asking if your coach is watching you under tournament conditions in order to know what you really need to do to shoot a lower score.
